NEWS: Akon Leaves Capital FM After Just One Show

Akon has left Capital FM after only hosting one show. He was meant to present a weekly two hour slot on the radio station every Saturday evening.

A spokeman for Global Radio said:

"Due to Akon's commitments, including working on a brand new album, we won't be broadcasting a regular show on 95.8 Capital FM for the time being."

However, it was said he could appear on the station in the future.

What makes me laugh is what made Global Radio think they could employ an international artist as a host, in a city that they don't even reside in? Of course his singing career comes first and he has many other commitments that will come first too. SMH

NEWS: Cheryl Cole Is Separating From Ashley Cole

Cheryl Cole's publicist has just announced that she will indeed separate from husband of three years, Ashley Cole, after the Chelsea footballer sent naked images of himself to a glamour model, and after several other women have come out and claimed to have had some kind of contact with Ashley whilst the pair have been together.

Cheryl's publicist has said:

"Cheryl Cole is separating from her husband Ashley Cole. Cheryl asks the media to respect her privacy during this difficult time."

This isn't the first time Ashley Cole has played away - in 2008 he cheated on the 'nations sweetheart' with hairdressers Aimee Walton, after getting drunk on a night out with the boys. It seems like Ashley never did learn from that backlash - it actually seems like none of these footballers learn from their adultery!

NEWS: Chelsea Could Fine Ashley 400k & Cheryl Dumps Him In Text

Ashley Cole could be a looking at a £400,000 fine from his club, Chelsea after recent headlines further damaged the reputation of the club.

It's been reported that the 29 year old sneaked women into his hotel room on away games.

Chelsea are taking the matter very seriously as Cole has been accused of lying to officials to cover his back.

Board officials are not happy with with the left back and it's believed that the England international will be called in to face the music this week with Chelsea chief exec Ron Gourlay.

Following the reveleations in which it was revealed that captain John Terry had slept with a team-mates ex wife, the Chelsea players were reminded of their responsibilites to protect the club's image.

A week later headlines surface of Cole's lates misdemeanour. EPIC FAIL.

William Hill are already paying out to punters that put wagers on Cheryl & Ashley splitting this year and its been reported that Cheryl Cole dumped Ashley in a text from LA saying "Move out, its over".

Not looking good for Ashley, tut tut.

NEWS: Lil' Wayne Delays Jail Time & Joins Twitter

Lil' Wayne, who avoided the start of his jail sentence because of a... wait for it, dental appointment, has officially joined Twitter and attracted more than ten thousand followers in thirty minutes.

The Cash Money artist was due to go into the pen last week for weapons charges but escaped jail time because of ahem, 'dental surgery'.

According to the website TMZ, Weezy went through a grilling eight hour session which saw the New Orleans artist have eight root canals, and tooth implants.

Something tells me the all that ice in his mouth had something to do with it.

Either way, Wayne has bought himself some time and plans to use some of it to interact with his fans on Twitter.

Concert Review: Jay Electronica @ the Jazz Cafe

New Orleans' rapper, Jay Electronica graced the stage of Camden's Jazz Cafe last night, for what was his second show in the UK and judging by the crowds warm and much anticipated welcome, it won't be his last. Without a hint of nerves, the Jazz Cafe first timer, took to the Londoners like a duck to water, much to the approval of the already, hyped attendees.

One of the UK's home grown talents, Sway, kick started the night with a luncheon of fresh materials due to appear on his new mixtape 'The Delivery' as well as journeying through some of his 'oldies but goodies', such as 'Little Derrek', reminding us of how far the self proclaimed "Best UK rapper" has most definitely come.

After getting the crowd warmed up, it wasn't long until the effortlessly regal presence of Jay Electronica filled the room with sheer excitement, gradually elevating the audience to an hysteria of great magnitude , as he made his way to the stage.

With every ounce the crowd pleaser, the very charismatic rapper proceeded to charter through tracks such as 'My world' and 'Extra extra', anthems in their own right amongst the niche Hip hop followers. However; it wasn't unitil he performed 'Exhibit A (Transformations) and 'Exhibit C, that the crowd truly became amped.

Jay Electronica is yet to release an album, but with such a magnetic performance and an already strong following ,(the 3,200 Blackberry messenger contacts on his phone, is living proof of this) last night was just the beginning of great things to come.

NEWS: 'No Whites' Race Row Over Jay-Z's Post BRITs Party

On Tuesday night after the BRITs, I did a spot of club hopping for two of the BRITs after parties; Warner Bros and a party that was put on for Jay-Z at Merah.

The party for Jay-Z at Merah has now sparked a race row after it is alleged that 'no whites' were allowed to party with the rapper.

The rapper was celebrating his win for Best International Male at London's Merah nightclub but many guests were unable to join him in the VIP area after heavy-handed bouncers allegedly refused to let in white people.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon, 31, and JLS' Oritse Williams, 23, stormed out of the bash over the bizarre ban.

Dixon told The Daily Star: “My friends have been getting knocked about and no-one seems to care."

She is reported to have said she needed to get out of the club and that she'd rather be at her local kebab than back inside with "all that aggro."

“What a horrible end to the night. I was having a blast at my record label party and now the mood is soured. I wish I’d never come,” she is reported as saying.

Jay-Z, 36, reportedly had no idea what was happening and partied the night away at a custom-built table in a private corner of the bar.

Celeb revellers who were allowed in included Alexandra Burke, 21, ex-Spice Girl Mel B, 34, and R&B singer Ne-Yo, 30.

JLS’s Oritsé said: “This place is doing my head in so I need to get in my car and go home."

“I’ve had enough of everyone getting in our faces, the vibe is not cool.”

A spokesman for Jay-Z told the paper that the rapper had nothing to do with the security, while the venue's bosses claimed guests were unable to get into the exclusive bash purely because of "numbers".

As an attendee of the party, I believe this story to be full of rubbish. The club was ram packed and entry was allowed to only to those who were invited or given the 'OK' by club management. Alesha Dixon came in after I did with her friends, and everybody was getting pushed about, not just her friends as the Daily Star is making out. I also don't believe Oritse's quote has anything to do with this alleged ban of 'white people'.....the VVIP area, where the celebs were was super packed as loads of people stood on the other side of the velvet rope trying to find a way in.

It seems the Metro has failed to mention that Daniel Merriweather and The Sugababes were also in attendance, and have only listed black celebrities as in attendance, which is not true! It's very unlikely that Jay-Z would make such a demand.......the table next to him was 'bought' by a group of Caucasians, and I spotted many 'white people' dancing the night away. If there was a ban, how did they get in?

I believe this story was sold by an unhappy party-goer who was not allowed entry into the club, like many others. Loads of people are not let into clubs on a daily basis. Is there any need for this to be classed as a race row? 

NEWS: Rapper Shyne Signs With Def Jam

American rapper Shyne, who was recently freed from prison after eight years, has signed a seven-figure deal with Def Jam Recordings.

Shyne was jailed over the nightclub shooting that allegedly involved Diddy and then girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez.

MTV reports that Shyne was recently denied entry in the UK on February 10th after not having the correct documentation on him. He was coming here to record new material for his forthcoming album.

NEW MUSIC VIDEO: Bashy ft Loick Essien - 'When The Sky Falls'

Rapper/Actor Bashy is back with his first release for 2010, 'When The Sky Falls' featuring new Sony/Columbia signing, Loick Essien, who also featured on Bashy's inspirational song, 'Black Boys'.

NEWS: Jay-Z To Headline Wireless Festival 2010

The Jigga man will headline this years' Wireless Festival and will be supported by Mr Hudson, who features on the rapper's single, 'Young Forever'.

The 40-year-old who performed at the show two years ago, will headline the Sunday show on July 4th.

It was also announced that Jay-Z will play Manchester's MEN Arena on June 7th and the LG Arena in Birmingham on June 9th. Tickets for the two arena shows go on sale February 19th.

Concert Review: JLS' Exclusive Gig With Nokia And T-Mobile

On Saturday at the renowned Hammersmith Apollo, we watched JLS performed exclusively for Nokia Come With Music and T-Mobile to loads of competition winners, press and some celebs such as Ian Wright, Lemar and even Katie Price!

The lovely Jack The Lad Swing boys performed a set for about an hour and a half, performing tracks such as 'Umbrella', 'Beat Again' and 'One Shot', to name a few. The boys also performed a medley of some classic Michael Jackson tracks which was great. As it was Aston's birthday, the rest of the group and the 3000 plus people inside the venue wished Aston a happy birthday, which had the fans in a frenzy! Ear plugs were seriously needed!

Over 80 artists and performers such as P!nk, Jamie Foxx, Usher, Justin Beiber, Swizz Beatz, LL Cool J, Celine Dion, Mary J Blige, Toni Braxton, came together to re-record the classic track 'We Are The World', which has been produced by Lionel Ritchie and Quincy Jones to benefit the Haitian earthquake relief efforts and the rebuilding of Haiti. NEW MUSIC VIDEO: Dru Hill - 'Love MD'

Nokio, Jazz, newest member Tao and frontman Sisqo have reformed as Dru Hill after eight year. Dru Hill are back under a new record label, Kedar Entertainment/Dragon Music Group, with their new single, 'Love MD', which is the first track to be taken off of their forthcoming album, 'InDRUpendance Day', which will be released April 13th 2010.

The guys also have a reality TV show in the mix also called Sweat's Platinum House, which is produced by label mate, Keith Sweat. Both Sisqo and Nokio also have solo projects coming out too.

Sisqo's stint in the Celebrity Big Brother in the UK will now provide international visibility for Dru Hill and himself....which is a good thing I guess.

So now Dru Hill and Jagged Edge are making a comeback in 2010. Who's next to announce their comeback this year? Tila Tequila claims B2K will make a comeback this year too. Are RnB male groups going to be the 'in' thing again?

J Dilla was the most honorable producer that ever lived.

Throughout the week, fans world wide have been paying tribute to the sublime talent that was James Dewitt Yancey (aka Dilla Dawg!), on what would of been his 36th birthday on the 7th February.

However; never one to conform, I was a little reluctant to jump on the bandwagon as it wasn't until his death that he began to receive the recognition that he undoubtedly deserved. Yet, political views aside, the powers within could not condone my stubbornness and as such, we at Social Writers have created a mixture of our favourite J Dilla tracks as well as a filmed tribute by rapper Common, in memory of the incredibly talented producer.

Fashion Week - The Celebrities Strut Their Stuff On The Catwalk

It's New York Fashion Week at the moment and for a good cause a host of female celebrities stormed the catwalk in a fashion show for Heart's Truth to raise awareness for heart disease.

R.I.P Alexander McQueen

Fashion has lost one of it's brightest sparks in the form of British fashion designer Alexander McQueen who was found dead after committing suicide, aged 40.

His death comes days after his mother Joyce died on Sunday and also before the start of London's Fashion Week. McQueen was due to unveil his new collection at Paris Fashion Week in March.

A source at McQueen’s office this afternoon confirmed his death, saying: "It is a tragic loss. We are not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family."

McQueen was discovered by Isabella Blow, who was the fashion director at Tatler Magazine. He won the distinction of being named British designer of the year four times between 1996 and 2003. He was named head designer at Givenchy in 1996, succeeding John Galliano, before joining forces with Gucci, who bought 51 per cent of his company.

NEW MUSIC VIDEO: Rihanna - 'Rude Boy'

Rihanna the Bajan princess is back with a video for her new single 'Rude Boy' taken off of the album, 'Rated R'. 'Rude Boy' is a very colourful video which shows off Rihanna's Caribbean heritage. It's nice to see RiRi doing something different in her videos, as of lately all of her videos have been very 'dark'. She is definitely channeling her inner Dancehall Queen in this video!

TV: Kid Cudi Makes His Acting Debut

I've seen buzz online about a new American programme called 'How To Make It In America'.

Why are so many people talking about 'How To Make It In America'? Well, firstly it's being dubbed as the new 'Entourage', (probably because it's created by the same producers), and secondly rapper Kid Cudi aka Scott Mescudi is also featured in the show, even though the rapper doesn't appear a lot in the programme.

Cudi has released a mixtape also entitled 'How To Make It In America' to coincide with his appearance in the programme. The mixtape also features Jadakiss Lupe Fiasco and Sheek Louch amongst others.  You can download it here

It'll be a while before 'How To Make It In America' is picked up by one of our Sky/TV channels over here in the UK, so I guess we'll just have to wait a while, well at least till we can watch it on TV Shack.

NEWS: Usher's Album Pushed Back Again

Usher's forthcoming album, 'Raymond v Raymond', which was meant to be released this Sunday, has been pushed back again...this time to March 30th. Why? Because Usher's record label, Jive Records, will not allow the album to be released until he gets news management.

Usher's mother, Jonetta Patton, was Usher's manager but she resigned late last year reportedly because Usher's current girlfriend, ex-Def Jam music executive Grace Miguel, was too involved in Usher's career and his mother didn't want to cause conflict. We have all seen the result of conflict between Usher, his mother and partner....

Usher has since been managing himself with Grace's help, but now Jive are insisting that he get's new management.

Okay, Grace was a music executive, she knows what she's talking about. But the last time Usher mixed business with pleasure look a what the outcome was - a divorce to his stylist Tameka Foster. I would hate for him to make the same mistake twice!

NEWS: Faith Evans Is Back With A New Album And Reality TV Show

Former Bad Boy and Capitol recording artist, Faith Evans, is set to release a brand new album, which is still to receive a title, and will also star in her own reality TV show called It's All About Faith.

Faith has teamed up with production companies E1 Television and E1 Music to release her sixth studio album and her reality TV show. The TV show will document Faith juggling her career and her role as a mother to her four kids and a wife to her husband/manager, Todd Russaw. Her new album will feature production from Jazzy Pha and David Banner and will be released from Faith's own Prolific Music Group along with E1 Music.

Talking on her comeback for 2010, Faith said:

"2010 is shaping up to be an amazing year for me to be in a place where I have grown from an entertainer to an entrepreneur is truly a blessing. I am excited to share this incredible experience with my fans and the world." 

Seems like making a reality TV show to start or re-start a career is the 'in' thing these days.......but we're glad Faith is making a comeback.

NEWS: Dr Conrad Murray Charged Over Michael Jackson's Death

Dr Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's personal doctor, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, after an investigation which lasted for eight months. Murray pleaded not guilty to the charges which will now spark a closely watched celebrity trial.

If found guilty, Dr Murray, can serve up to four years in prison. This is because involuntary manslaughter carries the shortest sentence of any homicide charge in California.

NEWS: Capital FM's New Radio Host Is.....Akon!

All morning we've been hearing that Capital FM signed up Akon to be their radio host.....which just didn't sound correct at all......well we can confirm this is indeed TRUE!

According to the Guardian, Akon will present a weekly show, every Saturday between 7pm and 9pm GMT. The RnB singers first show will be this Saturday.

Now why would Capital FM choose Akon??

NEWS: R Kelly Is Still 'Trapped In The Closet'

After releasing 22 chapters of his 'Trapped In The Closet' RnB-opera series, R Kelly has said he will be releasing more chapters in the near future.

He released the news via a video on Twitter saying:

“A question has been going on back and forth in my mind because I've been hearing a lot of people talk about Trapped in the Closet.

“A lot of people have been asking what the package is – y'all know I'm not gonna give you all that.

 

“But I just finished up 15 more chapters, [and] before I start releasing this stuff... I need to know if this is what you want from me. Y'all let me know, 'cos I'm ready."

R Kelly is a songwriting genius (at times), but do you really want to hear another 15 chapters?
