Last Night In London: Gorillaz Concert At Camden's The Roundhouse

Last night the Gorillaz performed to a packed house at the Roundhouse in Camden. Mos Def, De La Soul, Bashy, Kano and even Snoop Dogg were all in tow to perform the tracks they feature on from the Gorillaz's new album, 'Plastic Beach'.

Tracks from 'Plastic Beach' only will be streamed for fans tonight from 10pm as live @ http://gorillaz.mtv.com.

NEWS: Gary Barlow Of Take That Signs MC/Rapper Aggro Santos

This is news to our ears.....

Gary Barlow of Take That has signed MC/rapper Aggros Santos to his record label, Future Records.

Aggro confirmed the signing to the Daily Star, suggesting: "I should write his vocal and he should write my rap and see what comes up."
When asked whether he would feature on the new Take That album, he replied: "I'd love to get on it. Gary's a fan of mine and I'm equally respectful of his writing."

We're keen to find out how Gary even found out about Aggro to sign him, because I don't think anybody saw this one coming!

Aggro releases his new single, 'Candy', featuring ex-Pussy Cat Doll, Kimberly Wyatt, on May 3rd.

The male rapper that's on the tip of everybody's tongues, Drake, will be headlining his first ever show in the UK at London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on Monday July 12th. Tickets are £25.50 in advance (plus booking fee) and go on-sale from today, Friday April 23^rd at www.livenation.co.uk.

As previously announced Drake will be a special guest on Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 tour at Manchester's M.E.N Arena on June 7th and Birmingham's LG arena on June 9th. Drake will also perform at this year's Wireless Festival on July 4th, once again as a special guest of Jay-Z.

Drake's highly anticipated debut album 'Thank Me Later' will be released  June 14th, and his single 'Over' is released May 17th.

NEWS: Tinie Tempah & Tinchy Stryder To Feature On The UK Remix To Diddy's 'Hello, Good Morning'

After all the various talk on Twitter about Diddy and UK Grime artists, Diddy exclusively revealed to RWD editor, Hattie Collins, that both Tinie Tempah and Tinchy Stryder will feature on a UK remix to 'Hello Good Morning'.

"I think Tinie is doing something for us but not on the grime mix. He's on one of the UK remixes of Hello Good Morning with Tinchy Stryder. That's exclusive right there."

He also went on to talk about Skepta, who Diddy openly contacted via Twitter to talk about a Grime remix to 'Hello, Good Morning'.

"I want Skepta to do a straight, dirty, authentic grime remix where I redo the vocals, the beats and everything. So I hit up everyone on Twitter and Skepta hit me right back" said the music mogul.
"He was buggin'. He said his twitter blew up, caught on fire and nearly crashed the server... And we just, I guess it's just exciting."
"I'm actually rooting for the UK. I love the UK, I love the artists, the vibe, the style, the swag. I always wanted to do more with the UK cos I think we have an affiliation with each other. If I could be one of the people musically to help expose some of the talent through this album especially, because this album has a very UK vibe. The last train to Paris is through London so...."

Diddy also revealed that if the track with Skepta goes well, they'll even shoot a video for it!

The pair also spoke about Diddy and his love for Grime, what UK rapper Diddy is meant to have signed and his management deal with Nicki Minaj.

Paris based make up artist and photographer Mario Epanya has produced stunning portrayals for what apparently would represent a future African Vogue.

As shocking as it may sound particularly as we live within times where the beauty of social and cultural differences are not only accepted but largely admired, that the idea of a African Vogue is none other than a desired concept rather than a (long overdue) reality . As it stands, there is currently a Vogue India, Vogue Nippon and Vogue Australia, to name a few, but none that represents one of the largest and culturally diverse continents in the world..come on!

African Vogue is definitely the way forward, I just wish the fashion world would hurry up.

RUMOUR: Keisha Buchanan To Tell All About Life In The Sugababes In New Book?

Sources have told NOW Magazine that ex-Sugababes member, Keisha Buchanan, is to write a tell-all book about her time as a member of the Sugababes, documenting the highs and lows as well as being axed from the band in secret.

"Keisha's in discussions about writing a book about her time in the band," says one source. "Publishers have been after her for ages, but it's only now she's seriously considering it. At the moment it's still in the initial stages, but she's very excited," the source added.

"The book will chart the highs and lows and obviously deal with the very public split last year.
"Keisha's always kept quiet about what really happened even though the others have spoken at length about it."

We're still unsure as to whether this will be an official single release, but if it is, I can't say I'm jumping for joy over the news. This caused a massive Twitter debate, which is still ongoing as I type! Apparently the people spoke, and they chose Boy Better Know member and self-proclaimed Ed Hardy King, Skepta.

So people watch this space! A Skepta and Diddy/Dirty Money collaboration may be on the cards.

So the rumours were true after all....

There was speculation that Lady Gaga's manager, Troy Carter, was Nicki's new manager, but apparently Gaga herself put a halt on that deal.

Now the Bad Boy himself, Diddy, has stepped up to be Nicki's new manager. One of Diddy's managers, James Cruz, will be co-managing Nicki also. Diddy is also currently managing rapper Rick Ross too.

Some may think hiring Diddy as a manger is a big mistake as we've all seen what has happened to past Bad Boy Record's artists. But the man knows his industry and he's a good business man....we just hope this partnership doesn't end up shattering Nicki's career.

Rihanna, more like her managament/PR, just tweeted this picture of her on set of video for her next single, 'Rockstar 101'. Drummer Travis Barker will also be featured in the video as he's been giving Rihanna some drumming lessons.

Rihanna is definitely showing her inner rock chick. We can't wait to see the video!

NEWS: Kanye West To Return With A 'Good Ass Job'

Kanye West will return in June with his Fifth album 'Good Ass Job' and sources say Yeezy will be returning to his Hip Hop roots.

It is rumoured that Kanye has enlisted Q Tip, Rza, Mos Def, Pete Rock and DJ Premier to help shape the opus this time around.

I'll be the first to admit that when I first heard '808's & Heartbreak', I didn't like it, but after a few listens it fast became one of my favourite albums of 2008. With all the controversy of Taylorgate I hope Kanye doesn't feel he has to prove anything to anyone with his new material. his die-hard fans will always stick by him and those that did turn their back on him won't be able to deny G.O.O.D. music.

It will definitely be interesting to see what Kanye puts out this time, especially with a summer packed full of other big albums expected!

We shall see...

NEWS: Buju Banton Cocaine Trial Pushed Back

The trial for international reggae artist, Buju Banton, continues or not in this case as the date for his court case has been postponed, following his arrest four months ago with conspiracy to posses and the intent to distribute.

As previously reported on Social Writers, Banton was arrested back in December after police accused him of trying to buy more than five kilograms of cocaine from an undercover police officer. Banton, real name Mark Anthony Myrie, adamantly denies the charge and has since refused to accept any plea deals, strong in his belief that he was set up.

Banton was due to go to trial on April 25th but U.S. District Judge, James Moody has pushed the date back to June 21st, for reasons unknown.

Today Ryan Seacrest interviewed the Bajan princess Rihanna in LA, where they spoke about her planning Katy Perry's wedding, her performance of 'Rock Star 101' on American Idol, her 'Last Girl On Earth' Tour with Ke$ha which Nicki Minaj dropped out of yesterday, Travis Barker and loads more.

She finally admitted that herself and LA Dodger's outfielder, Matt Kemp, are in a relationship together:

"He's my boyfriend and it's new, it's fun and it's nothing too serious.....I don't want nothing that's going to take up so much of my energy and time right now in a bad way. I just wanna have fun, and that's what it's about!'

NEWS: Nicki Minaj Pulls Out Of Tour With Rihanna And Ke$ha

This week it was announced that Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha would embark on an American summer tour together.

Just moments ago, rapper Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to announce that she will no longer be a part of the tour:

"Barbz I'm sorry 2 say I will not be going out on RiRi's tour. I've decided 2 use that time 4 the completion of my album. Hope u understand."

She later went on to tweet:

"Barbz, Thx 4 understanding. And Thanks to Rihanna 4 being a sweetheart and extending this great opportunity 2 me. Support the show! Luv, HB"

A highly respected MC with the credentials to match, Ty continues to serve up impressive lyrics on a hot plate of good, honest music. This has to be one of my favourite tracks of the year so far and the infectious vibe in the video seals the deal.

Nice to see some familiar faces having fun in the video as well!

NEWS: Alicia Keys Doesn't Want Drake In Her Music Video For 'Un-Thinkable'

Alicia announced to Rap Up that her next single wont be 'Put It In A Love Song', which features Beyonce.....instead the singer will ready a new release, 'Un-Thinkable', which features rapper Drake.

Keys has ruled out Drake from being in he video stating:

"He won't be in the video. That's too obvious."

"He's a great guy. I'm really proud of all the things he's been able to achieve, and we're most likely going to do some kind of remix for the song that'll be really good. There'll be more of me and Drake."
