Yesterday was X Factor winner Alexandra Burke's 21st birthday. She celebrated her birthday with family and friends at a dinner party at Japanese restaurant, Nobu Berkley, and then went on to party at her private birthday party at Shoreditch House till 4am in the morning, where she racked up a £10,000 bill!

She was spotted coming out of Nobu with a ring on that all important finger.....

Spending Like Princes On Paupers' Money

X Factor runners up, JLS have been warned about their lavish spending by their management.

The boys, especially Aston and Marvin have been splashing the cash on a regualr basis, racking up huge bills at nightclubs and on shopping sprees. Aston has already bought himself a £40,000 white Audi TT. This money is all from their advance.....I think they've forgotten this!

Do they not realise that they have to pay back this advance?
Do they not realise that their careers could be over at any time and they'll be left without a penny if they continue to spend money this way?


Do they not know the many stories of music artists such as MC Hammer and TLC that have all had to file for bankruptcy, even though they were all successful in the music industry??

Big Brother To End Next Year

It has been confirmed that next years' Big Brother 11 will be the last series with broadcaster, Channel 4. (YES!!)

Speaking at the network's Autumn press launch this morning, C4 director of television Kevin Lygo said: "We will not be continuing with Big Brother. Next year will be the last series for Channel 4. There will be a celebrity version, plus the regular one. We've decided it's time to move on."

Endemol are said to be taking Big Brother to another broadcaster in 2011.

I wonder what channel it'll be on next??

Danyl's Definitely Got The X Factor

I'm sure by now you've all watched Danyl Johnson's X Factor audition and was wowed by his performance....well so was America.

It had been reported that Danyl has bagged himself an appearance on NBCs 'Today Show' after the 28-year-old schoolteacher's audition was watched online over one million times on YouTube!!

Did anybody see this coming?? I don't think anybody did!!

I guess he'll be the male version of Britain's Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle.

Watch out world, it looks like Danyl will be a huge success at this rate, thanks to the online hype.

R.I.P Aaliyah - 8 Years On

Today marks the eighth anniversary of the death of the RnB singer Aaliyah.

The talented singer and actress was killed in a plane crash in The Bahamas, along with eight others, after filming her music video for 'Rock The Boat' at the tender age of 22, when she had so much more to offer. The pilot of the plane was falsely licensed and had traces of alcohol and cocaine in his body, and the plane was also overweight, which were the causes of the plane to crash.

Aaliyah definitely helped pave the way for young female singers, and is still today seen as a great assest to RnB music.

Here's my favourite Aaliyah track, 'One In A Milion', which sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

Rumour has it that the former Murder Inc singer Ashanti and rapper Nelly have split up, according to the Daily News (US).

Apparently Ashanti was ready to take the next step in their relationship and prepare for marriage, but Nelly was not too keen on the idea.

There's another rumour doing the rounds that Nelly is dating video vixen, Jessica Rabbit.

I wonder which version of the story is true; was/is Nelly cheating, or did he not want to get married?

Look like Ashanti doesn't have that 'Good Good' anymore.....

Another publication bites the dust...this time it's my favourite free evening paper, thelondonpaper

News International, who own thelondonpaper, revealed today that thelondpaper, which has a daily distribution of 500,000, recorded a pre-tax loss of £12.9m in the year to Jun 2008.

Rupert Murdoch has said:
"The team at thelondonpaper has made great strides in a short space of time with innovative design and a fresh approach but the performance of the business in a difficult free evening newspaper sector has fallen short of expectations. We have taken a tough decision that reflects our priorities as a business."

This closing of the thelondonpaper just goes to show that no publication is safe.

Okay, so for those of you who are out of the loop, Omarion was signed to Young Money Entertainment, by Lil' Wayne and yesterday Omarion's track 'Comfort ' ft Lil' Wayne, was leaked on the Internet.

Last night it was announced that because of the leak, Omarion had been dropped from Young Money Entertainment.

Good afternoon all.


When I awoke this morning, I did my usual trawl of all my favourite internet sites to get clued up with what's happening and was immediately stopped in my tracks!

Somebody managed to get hold of some pics of Kan-Yeezy and his main squeeze Amber Rose vacationing in Barcelona.

Now I'm gonna admit, it took a while for her to grow on me, but now she has. I think Amber is DOPE! Her style, her attitude, her looks, her bald head, everything! I've been speaking to a lot of people today, no one has had a bad word to say about her ESPECIALLY the ladies. I admire the fact that she is comfortable to just do her and not care about all the media attention and slander that gets thrown at her on a daily basis. I'm also one of the few people that believes she genuinely loves Kanye for who and what what he is!

So, with that said i pose this question to you all...

HOW HOTT IS AMBER ROSE ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10???

(10 being the hottest).

Sway Collaborates With A Premiereship Footballer

Yes you read right, and no the premiership footballer is not Rio Ferdinand (like I assumed).....

It's been reported that Liverpool FC player Ryan Babel, will be featured rapping on a track on Sway's forthcoming album.

The UK rapper told BBC Newsbeat: "He's actually on the song with me and Neutrino. Yeah, Ryan Babel's a good mate of mine. He's a nice guy, he's a sick rapper. The way he flips his flow is marvellous, man, so I wanted him to do a bit - half Dutch, half British - and he really pulled it off, man. I think it's a track that people are gonna like."

I need to hear this track...I have a feeling that Babel wont disappoint with his lyrical skills on this track.

The eldest of the Kardashian sisters, Kourtney, is with child.

Kourtney has admitted that the unplanned pregnancy was a result of her forgetting to take the contraceptive pill daily. She said on American radio station KIIS-FM:

"This sounds probably so dumb but there's so many times I'll forget to take my pill and just don't think it's that big of a deal."
"I've done that several times and never really thought about it. It sounds so stupid."


The baby's father is her on-off boyfriend Scott Disick, who has appeared on 'Keeping Up With The Kardashian's' several times.

Single Review: Asher Roth ft. Keri Hilson- 'She Don't Wanna Man'

The college loving Caucasian rapper returns with his second single 'She Don't Wanna Man' from his highly acclaimed 'Asleep In The Bread Aisle' LP.

This rock-tinged song may not instantly appeal to the die hard hip hop fans, but it's not half bad! Roth's simple delivery is complimented nicely by Keri's 'I'm too hot for you' hook which oozes mainstream success.

After his first single, Asher went a bit quiet, but this could be the perfect way to re-introduce himself. Although this is quite an odd pairing, with the right visuals to accompany the song, I can see this track doing really well.

There was quite a buzz around Roth originally, but I think for some reason his album did not live up to the buzz of his Don Cannon & DJ Drama hosted 'The Greenhouse Effect' mixtape and with the obvious comparisons to a certain Marshall Mathers, he definitely had his work cut out for him. All in all I think Asher Roth has a bright future and will definitely be a hit on the festival and live shows scene.

I'm gonna give this one a 3/5 which could possibly be bumped up to a 4/5 once I see the video! The single is released September 14th through Schoolboy/Loud/SRC Records.

Asher Roth will also be live in concert on August 25th at The Scala, London.

Jennifer Hudson gives birth to a son

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and her fiance welcomed the birth of their new born son, David Daniel Otunga Jr on Monday. Named after her fiance, David Otunga, the Dream Girls songstress gave birth to a healthy 7 pound and 14 ounces little bundle of joy.







SocialWriters have nothing but love for Hudson, with the tragic loss of her nephew and mother last year, we couldn't think of a better person to receive such a great blessing.

LL Cool J's Micheal Jackson Tribute

Rapper LL Cool J has created a Micheal Jackson tribute song called 'Billie Jean Dream', where he raps over MJ's classic hit, 'Billie Jean'. The lip-licking rapper claims the lyrics were solely written by Jackson to him in a dream.

In the outro of the song LL says:

"The crazy thing is, I had a dream. Michael Jackson wrote that for me in a dream. That's crazy, right? I had a dream, and homeboy wrote it for me in a dream. I saw it on a paper. I woke up and just jotted it all down on paper. Michael Jackson, that's for you, baby. I love you."

Vibe Magazine Revived

In June we reported the closing of Vibe Magazine, but we are now happy to announce that a deal to buy Vibe Magazine from debt holders CapitalSource has been completed.

It is said that Vibe will now be published four times a year, but there hasn't been any solid confirmation as yet, but I'm sure all will be revealed soon.

It's great that Vibe has been revived from the dead in a time where many publications are shutting down.

Let's just hope Vibe can stay afloat!

After an 'overwhelming demand', extra-large Durex condoms will be sold at Tesco's to cater to well-endowed men.

Average condoms are 205mm in length - with the new range clocking in at 215mm. The new extra-large condoms are 10mm longer and 1mm than the average and will go on sale in Tesco branches across the UK from tomorrow. Bashy is back with the video from his second single, 'Your Wish Is My Command' featuring H-Boogie,(who is Estelle's sister).

This is one of my favourite tracks off of his debut album 'Catch Me If You Can' is definitely a great single. I knew the video would have an 80's feel to it thanks to his tweets via Twitter, but I must say I am surprised by the video....didn't expect this from him at all...which is a good thing. Just shows how versatile Bashy is!

Janet Jackson To Peform At The MOBOs

According to New Magazine, Janet Jackson is set to perform at this years' MOBO awards in Glasgow.

The singer will pay tribute to her late brother Michael Jackson on September 30th, after event organisers are planning several tributes to the King of Pop.

A MOBO spokesperson said:

"Janet is a music icon in her own right and a previous MOBO presenter. We loved her past involvement with the show and MOBO will continue to support her music and champion her career. "

"Michael Jackson was a key catalyst and influence on the culture, lifestyle and music that MOBO supports and represents. His sound, style and dance moves have inspired subsequent generations of pop, soul, R&B and hip-hop artists. Artists such as Usher, Ne-Yo and Justin Timberlake often cite Michael Jackson as their inspiration and it is key that we commemorate his life, achievements and legacy."



This will definitely attract the crowds to attend the MOBOs this year!

CopyCat?

There are many stars who claim that a fellow entertainer has copied their style, which is nothing new to us. But I never saw this one coming....

Former Moloko singer, Roisin Murphy,(you know - the lady who sang that tune 'Bring It Back' in the 90's), has claimed that Lady Gage has copied her style!

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Murphy said:

"She's copied my style. I met her about a year ago before she got really big and I had no clue that this was all going to happen. She wasn't wearing shoulder pads at the time, and I was."

"Lady Gaga is just a poor imitation of me. She has copied my style, she took my shoulder pads and all that. Mind you, she doesn't wear the bottom half!"

Can you see a resemblence in their style??

Is There A Con-Man In The Konvict Muzik Camp?

So I received an email from a member of Church Boi's management, directing me to listen to the Akon diss track below.

Part of the email reads:

"Church Boi has been with Akon since the beginning, paying for kon's meals when kon couldnt afford them, Akon and Church boi (real name Cory Boyd) were family, directing his music,producing and playing guitar for him around the world since before Akon was even known. Church Boi has been done wrong big time, akon stole money, beats and more from him,we would appreciate your support in letting your audience know about this situation and this record which explains everything"



Church Boi is/was an artist, producer and guitarist on Konvict Muzik and a friend of Akon's, who has produced and written tracks for the likes of Busta Rhymes, Paul Wall, T-Pain and more. He's apparently got tired of Akon's con-man ways, (so it says in the track).

It was only about 2-3 months ago that Konvict Muzik's PR asked me to interview Church Boi, real name Cory Boyd....so I'm confused.com.

A Bad Day for SouljaBoy

It hasn't been a good day for Soulja Boy as he was on the receiving end of some harsh words by a BET blogger and some more harsh words in an alleged diss track by Eminem.


Whilst on tour with Young Money, SouljaBoy was up to his usual ish on the net, this time showcasing his new remote control Lamborghini car chain.

When word got round that SouljaBoy had an iced out remote control car around his neck he sparked a response from a certain BET blogger.

"If someone doesn’t sit his ass down, I WILL! Before I stage dive into this memoir of thoughts on Soulja Boy’s absurd jewelery acquisitions, know that I’m in no way hating on this young man. This more like one of those punches your older brother (or older sister in my case) gave you when you show signs of moronic activity in public.

Recently, Mr. Boy decided it’d be best if he not only had a black Lambo in his garage, but if he also had one swinging from his neck. Covered in black diamonds. Did I mention it was a remote control car? Is this registering in your skull yet or have you tuned this rant out since it’s dealing with Soulja Boy?

Shortly after SouljaBoy tweeted "WTF is today diss Soulja Boy day? Eminem dissing me? really?"

A track was leaked a couple hours ago that is allegedly Eminem taking shots at SouljaBoy.



Now it wouldn't make sense for Em' to diss SouljaBoy like that considering Eminem's status in hip-hop, but listen again and tell us if you really think it's him.

If it is him, your boy SouljaBoy has his work cut out for him, going against Ice-T is one thing but Eminem? Jheeez.

Is Drake Over And Out Before His Career Has Truly Begun?

After discussing with a few of my peers about our thoughts and views on Drake, it seems we all agree....Drake's career is crashing before it's actually begun.....well we hope not!

There has been a few incidents/events that have happened over the past month or so that don't seem to have gone down too well with Drake fans.

Incident #1

'Best I Ever Had' Video
Directed by Kanye West

One of the most anticipated videos of the year, from the the Canadian rapper on the tips of everybody's tongue, was very disappointing. The video was a hot mess, which I personally didn't get.
Kanye's vision didn't reach out to Drake's fans, most of whom shunned the video. With a massive female fan base, this video did Drake no favours, but some men seemed to like it, no surprise there!



Last week an editor's cut version of the video was released.....



Is it any better than the original?


Incident #2

Drake's performance at the 2009 BET Awards

We all expected Drake to give a great performance at the BET Awards, (I actually stayed up till 5am watching), and once again we were disappointed, and some even appalled.
Poor Drake tore his Achilles heel a few days before the BET Awards, so he either had to pull out or go on with the show - he decided to go on with the show, where he sat on a stool throughout his performance of 'Best I Ever Had', which had people bored and not impressed. Then in his performance with Weezy for 'Every Girl', Lil' Wayne's daughter and her friends who are around the ages of 13, come out on stage prancing around like, dare I say it, young groupies, which, for a show that was dedicated to the passing of Michael Jackson, was inappropriate.


There's no longer any video footage that is available due to copyright clams by Viacom. (Sorry!) But I'm sure you all have seen the footage!

I give Drake props for going ahead with the show whilst injured, but his first televised performance was dire and was slated. He really should have weighed up his options better!

Incident #3

Drake falls and injures his leg....again!

During a performance whilst Drake is 'dancing', he falls and hurts his knee and he'll now need surgery. If he injures it again, doctors have warned him that he may not be able to walk on it again.



This is another blow to Drake which also creates yet another set back for him.

It seems ever since he signed to Cash Money/Universal Records, he's going down hill and the buzz about him is dying down. With other artists, such as Fabolous, going in for the kill, will Drake be soon forgotten about?

'Silly Boy' is actually by a singer named Eva Simons, who looks set to take the charts by storm with this track.

I like this video....very different for Peter. He's come a long way from his past cheesy days as a singer.

R.I.P Baatin

Social Writers have just learnt that Rapper Baatin from the legendary Hip Hop collective Slum Village, passed away yesterday at the age of 35. Titus 'Baatin' Glover , T3 and J Dilla, ( who died in 2006 of lupus), were founding members of the Detroit trio and went on to release two legendary underground albums together including 1997 'Fan-Tas-Tic Vol 1 and 2000 'Fan-Tas-Tic Vol 2 that not only gained them a large underground following but also impressed the equally acclaimed rap group A Tribe Called Quest. However it was their 2002 album 'Trinity' ( with lyricist Elzhi replacing J Dilla) that officially put Detroit Hip Hop on the map and gained them mainstream acknowledgement.

Though he left the group for a short while to work on his solo project, the group recently reunited and was due to release their long awaited fourth album 'Villa Manifesto' this Autumn.


Leaving behind a 1 year old daughter and a 9 year old son, the passing of Baatin is a great loss to Hip hop and to all those that value and appreciate great artistry.

This summer has seen yet another death of a music legend.
