The film 'Couples Retreat' stars a host of actors/comedians such as Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman and Faizon Love. But Universal decided to change the poster promoting the film for the UK audience and removed the two black actors, Faizon Love and Tasha Smith from the poster, and their names too!
Why?
Universal said it regretted causing any offense, and it has abandoned plans to use the revised poster in other countries. A Universal spokesman said the revised advertisment was aimed ‘to simplify’ the poster to actors who are the most recognizable in international markets.
Even if it was a marketing ploy, they should know their decision was going to cause an issue with people, especially the Black community.
How many times are there actors in films and we haven't got a damn clue as to who they are, but no 'editing' to their marketing project for international audiences are changed?? SMH
