NEWS: Lupe Fiasco Was Suicidal Over 'B.o.B's 'Nothing On You'

Lupe Fiasco recently revealed that he was suicidal after the chairman of Atlantic Records deemed his version of the smash hit 'Nothing On You' was terrible. Lupe had originally recorded the Bruno Mars assisted track but B.o.B got the track in the end.

Lupe told the Guardian:
“That was the tipping point, It was less about the bruised ego but more the audacity of it. It was mentally destructive. I say it with a certain laissez-faire now because I’m past it, but back then, hearin’ that shit, it fucked me up. I was super-depressed, lightly suicidal, at moments medium suicidal — and if not suicidal, willing to just walk away from it all completely.”

"I hate this album. I don’t hate the music, but I hate the process. When I look at it, I don’t see song titles and artwork, I see the fight – I see the emotions, the blood, sweat and tears. There are a couple of songs on there that I love; but Lasers is a little bit of what you love, a little bit of what you like, and a lot of what you had to do."

VIDEO: Diggy Simmons Claims His Dad's Music Connections Didn't Help Him Get His Record Deal

Diggy Simmons, who is Russel Simmon's nephew and Rev Run's son, signed a record deal with Atlantic Records recently. Little Diggy claims that his Dad's connections within the music industry didn't get him his record deal.......

I guess the boy wants to believe he achieved something on his own (which he has in a way), so we wont burst his bubble as he's quite a good rapper...better than his older brother JoJo who actually wanted to make a career out of rapping.

If Diggy wasn't related to rap royalty and his uncle wasn't great friends with Lyor Cohen down at Atlantic Records, would Diggy honestly have got a record deal?

Day 26 Leave Bad Boy Records

Day 26 have decided to part ways with Bad Boy records after Sean 'Diddy' Combs decided to jump ship and went over to Interscope Records. They are now with Atlantic Records, where Bad Boy Records were a sub-division record label.

To be completely honest we at SW predicted this a while ago. Hopefully the boys can now carve out their own fanbase away from the label of 'reality TV stars'. Also, considering what happens to most Bad Boy artists this could be the perfect move for the longevity of their music career.

Let's hope that the quintet get some new music out soon as their first two albums were really good!

Good luck fellas... Oh, and please NO MORE BITCH-ASS-NESS!!

NEW FLAVA: Toni Braxton & Trey Songz - 'Yesterday'

Toni is back and banging with her new single 'Yesterday' with her Atlantic Records label mate, Trey Songz. I heard a version of this song without Trey and I wasn't too crazy about the track, but this duet is great! Got the song on repeat already.

UPDATE: Bad Boy/Interscope

The press release by Interscope Geffen A&M states that Bad Boy will have an imprint under the Interscope label, meaning that any new signing Diddy makes under Bad Boy will be under Interscope too.

"The new label deal will include all Diddy's future music ventures and his upcoming album, Last Train To Paris, will be the first release on the new joint venture between Bad Boy Records and Interscope. The single "Love Come Down" will be serviced physically and digitally this week with a video, directed by Rage, to follow shortly."

"Diddy leaves Warner Music Group (WMG) imprint Atlantic Records after five years. The current Bad Boy roster and catalog will remain with Bad Boy's WMG joint venture"

This means that current Bad Boy artists Day 26, Janelle Monet and Cassie will stay under Atlantic/Warner Music.

Camel Got The Hump

Yesterday Jay Z flew into the UK for a press trip and was meant to have an album listening event last night, for his up-coming album, Blue Print 3, for urban press - that got cancelled yesterday.

SocialWriters have learned that when Jigga flew into London yesterday he was not a happy man. Why you ask? Because attendees of the event were Twittering and Facebooking away letting the whole world know about the event, which Jay wasn't happy about. He ven had some A-star celebrities asking to come to this event, like it was a big party, after thy found out about it on Twitter. The Camel didn't want all the fuss so he cancelled the album listening event.

Do you think Jay was over-reacting by making such a decision?

After all, press were not told to keep this info embargoed.....

Drake Has Made His Decision

"Always knew that I could figure/How to get these label heads to offer them good figures" Drake - 'Ignant Shit'

And Drake was damn sure right about that! After the record label battle between Atlantic Records, Interscope and Universal, Drake has made his decision and decided to sign with Universal Motown, who seems to be offering him the most money.

The announcement which hasn't been made official yet, but was leaked on the net, sees the Canadian rapper/singer/actor under the same record company as his affiliates Lil' Wayne and Young Money.

At least the speculation has come to an end, but was it the right choice?
We all know Atlantic Records has got the best marketing department, hence why Hov has allowed their marketing department to market the 'Blueprint 3'

I'm looking forward to hearing Drake's debut album, hopefully sometime this year would be nice!

Jay-Z Teams Up With Atlantic

Yesterday I told you how Jay is thinking about inking a deal with Atlantic in regards to his own record label. Today I have new news on another matter with Jay and Atlantic:

Jay-Z will be releasing his up-coming album, Blueprint 3, on Roc Nation, but with the marketing and promotional help from Atlantic Records.

The news broke out yesterday on Twitter. Click here to read more

Atlantic Records Are Going Hard

WMG/Atlantic records seem to have been planning intensively recently......I knew something big was going to go down soon with Atlantic, because my sources told me, but DAMN!!! Never thought it'd be this BIG!!

The man on the tip of everyone's tongue, Drake, looks like he'll be signing with Atlantic Records. There's a huge bidding war going on at the moment to sign Drake, as he's the hottest thing out right now. People think that Drake is signed to Young Money just because of his affiliations with Lil' Wayne, but this is not the case. Atlantic Records seem to be the forefront winners as they'll most likely put his album out by the end of this year, and are also looking for the next big thing since their golden boy, T.I. is incarcerated.

The Jigga Man looks set to ink a deal to have his own record label under WMG/Atlantic Records with Atlantic's Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles, his two buddies that were with him at Def Jam when he reigned. If this happens it would make him one of the richest and most powerful men in the music industry. Don't forget he still has his Live Nation deal.

You gotta love Jay Z....he's one hell of a business man, not forgetting to mention he's got the lovely Beyonce as a wife!

What a spectacle Spectacular!!!

Some of you may have seen Pretty Ricky member, Spectacular, gyrating on camera in red underpants to promote their new single 'Tipsy', challenging the likes of Chris Brown, Day 26 and Omarion, who are much better than Pretty Ricky.

For those of you who haven't seen the video, which may be disturbing for some (haha)......

From this video, Spectacular's sexuality has been questionned, even though he said the dancing was 'strictly for the ladies', one can't help to wonder if this is true. Everyone now thinks he's coming out of the closet!

Spectacular has now created another video in response to all the gay speculations....it speaks for itself really!

1. All those chains ain't his - Does he think that all that jewellery makes him more masculine? More like a damn fool...he aint Mr T!
2. By making a 'part 2' and by changing up the dance moves doesn't stop people from thining that you're gay
3. I appreciate the fact that he's wearing black boxers...at least he got something right this time
4. Is this what is has come down to? Promoting yourself and your group in this hillarious yet disturbing way after being dropped by Atlantic Records?

Pure comedy for this wonderful summer's day in London!
