NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: Lovelle

Presenting Lovelle, a 20 year old South Londoner getting ready to take the music scene by storm.

Still an unsigned artist, Lovelle is currently readying the release of her debut single. An edgy fusion between pop, grime, soul and bashment, 'Uh-Oh' is due for a June 20th release on De Wallen Records and features a verse from Lady Chann; the track is also set to be featured in the new MAX Factor advert.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: AYO

Meet AYO. A 24 year old rapper, songwriter and producer hailing from East London. Having already worked with the likes of Jason Derulo, Wretch 32 and Professor Green, to name a few, AYO is now ready to take the UK music scene by storm as he embarks on his own career.

His first single, 'Far Away', was released last year and featured fello UK artist Ironik. Now, AYO is readying the release of his second single 'Miracle'. The track, which features vocalist Alex Martin, will be released on Illstarz/Seismic Sounds, a label which AYO himself co-owns.

Speaking of the track, AYO says: "The track is about experiencing love from someone who is so perfect that it feels like they were sent from up above, hence the title of the single."

The triple-threat act is hard at work on is his currently unnamed debut album, set to be released later this year, as well as on an EP which he plans to release very soon.

'Miracle' is released on May 15th 2011. Listen to the track below.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: Mike Hough

Introducing Mike Hough, a 19 year old R&B singer ready to take the current music scene by storm.

Mike became noticed within the industry via YouTube, covering hit songs by many recognised artists. Hailing from the same town as Jessie J, the singer has even been compared to the woman herself.

Unsigned, Mike is already enjoying chart success after releasing his first single this week. 'Hero' has reached No. 6 on the iTunes RnB chart and No. 88 on the main iTunes chart.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK: Parade

Introducing the new girl band Parade who are signed to Asylum/Atlantic Records. 

This five-piece band mix Pop tracks with street-style dance moves to give them a bit of an edge.

Their debut single 'Louder' is to be released March 7th and the video for the track has been directed by Emil Nava who directed Jessie J's 'Do It Like A Dude' video and he is also the brother of acclaimed director Jake Nava.

The girls are currently touring with Alexandra Burke and are set to give The Saturdays a run for their money!

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: David Hanna

Introducing David Hanna, a new R&B artist hailing from the Bahamas. Whilst working with other local artists, and establishing himself as a producer in his home town of Nassau, David spent his time building himself up in pursuit of a solo career.

Now signed to Sheppard Boy Records, David is getting ready for the release of his debut single. Entitled 'Do To Me', the track is a fusion of pop and R&B in what he likes to call 'New Island Soul'.

The track is taken from his forthcoming debut album, 'The War Outside', which is planned for to be released later on this year.

Filmed in Nassau, the video for the song reached the number 1 spot on the Bahamas Video Chart. Check it out below:

NEW KIDZ ON THE BLOCK: Encore

Introducing singers Mark and Cairo and rapper Pierre who are known as the trio, Encore. The group are freshly signed to Island Records and have already been on tour with N-Dubz and Talay Riley.

Formed in 2009, Encore are currently working on their debut album which will be released sometime in 2011, which will include production from Nate Walka and DaVinChe.

Here's the boy's music video for their debut single 'Wind Up', which is released on 14th February 2011.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: Talay Riley

Talay Riley is a new Urban-pop act from the UK who is making a huge buzz on the music scene as a music act. Having already toured with N-Dubz earlier this year along with performances at Wireless festival and the Underage Festival, Talay has started out on his own headline dates across the UK.

Riley is no stranger to the music business - he co-wrote Chipmunk's #1 single 'Oopsy Daisy', and also co-wrote another track on the rapper's album.



Check out the music video for Talay Riley's debut single 'Humanoid', which is released on 4th October.  'Humanoid' is a perfect taster of what is to come from Talay Riley. It is a dark and edgy urban pop track that merges robotic beats, cutting edge production and a killer chorus to create a song that is instant and exciting.

His debut album is scheduled to be released in 2011,  and we have a feeling it will definitely be an album worth purchasing!

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: Angel- 'Julie'

Introducing West London born singer/songwriter Angel, (born Siach Charles). Having already penned songs for the likes of Roll Deep, JLS and Cheryl Cole, the 22 year old R and B crooner is about to set the UK urban scene alight with his new single 'Julie'. Taken of of his current mix tape 'Patience Is A Virtue', his leading single displays an eclectic concoction of pop fused with R and B, characterised with soothing vocals and engaging stories. Although this is set to be is debut single, Angel is no stranger to the world of music having been one fifth of a family singing collective as a young child, known as The Charles Family,  his music credentials already makes for an impressive resume.

This, coupled with Angel’s innate musical talents, 'Julie' is a great introduction to an artist that will undoubtedly continue to make waves in the music world.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: Rian Peters

Introducing singer/songwriter/dancer Rian Peters who is creating a quiet storm within the UK's underground scene with his debut single 'Getaway' featuring the "King of Grime", Wiley.

The singer has performed on some of the biggest stages, providing vocals for the likes of Leona Lewis, Estelle and Lauryn Hill, so this may not be the first time you're hearing about this talent.

Rian's debut album, which is untitled, shall be dropping sometime this autumn/winter. So we hope to see and hear more from the south-London born musician.

Introducing Calvin “Joonie” Gary, Jr., who is an American singer, songwriter, arranger and musician, specializing in Soul, R&B and Pop who like many great artists began his vocal career singing and playing in the church. Although a brilliant vocalist, Joonie’s dream was never to become a singer. As a talented musician, his focus was on the art of songwriting and producing. Unable to find singers who could deliver his works the way he envisioned them, Joonie was forced to sing his own demos. After one of his demos reached the hands of Warren G, Joonie landed his first deal with a major record label.

Unwilling to compromise the integrity of his musicianship and unable to abandon his unique artistic style to become a pre-packaged “instant star”, Joonie took an introspective hiatus from the music industry where at one point he almost lost his desire to create. For a while, Joonie stayed behind the scenes writing, arranging, producing or playing instrumentals for other artists including, Ruben Studdard, Nappy Roots, Angie Stone and Mos Def (unreleased), but his talent would once again surface and be pushed to the forefront.

Joonie's latest single, 'So Fly' is a great soul track!

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: Jessie J

Jessie J, the Essex soul singer and songwriter, is one to definitely watch in 2010. She's already written hit songs for Miley Cyrus ('Party In The USA') and Chris Brown ('I Need This'), and she's currently penning songs for her debut album, which should be released this year under Universal Records/Island Records.

I've been following Jessie's career for a few months now and was totally blown away by her from the jump! This girl has got talent for days and looks set to have a very successful music career.

Last night in London, iLuvLive's second show for 2010 took place at Proud Galleries in Camden and Jessie J took to the stage to perform her track, 'Big White Room', live. I heard she tore the house down!

Introducing McLean, a new Soul artist signed to Asylum Records in the UK.



'Broken' is McLean's debut single which will be released November 9th and will include the remix featuring number one artist Tinchy Stryder. 'Broken’ first came to the wider world’s attention in 2007 when it was independently released. It was an online sensation and has accrued over 20 million hits across Myspace, Bebo, Habbo, Last FM etc. It’s gained over 5 million YouTube views aswell! Never before has an uncharted record had such a great response without a marketing campaign!

McLean will also be part of the Brrrap Pack tour alongside Ironik and Chipmunk which will take place in February 2010.

The UK's dismal Garage scene is about to undergo a serious transformation. Nip and tucking away a dreary cloud suffused with a past of violence, ( remember the drama with the So Solid crew?), and an unfair misrepresentation by way of the media, the once favoured music genre has slowly been drifting into the land of no return, that was until refuge was found in the form of Majestic.




Evolving from a 15 year old boy admiring the Garage scene into a master of his craft as an MC, Majestic has come a long way from the days he spent perfecting his skills on the countless appearances he made on some London's popular pirate radio stations, notably UKG, garnering attention from and collaborating with garage connoisseurs such as DJ EZ ,Sticky, Matt Jam Lamont and Logan Sama.


Following on from a successful collaboration with The Wide Boys which led to them engineering a Garage classic compilation album, placing them at number three in the national compilation charts, gained Majestic even more exposure. None however that will compare to the level of exposure his new single 'In the V.I.P' will accumulate. Teaming up with the boys again, his new single has a sound that is reminiscent of the good 'ol days' when garage music was as its peak, with an infectious beat and flow that would make you want to jump in the middle skank, the club banger has even been championed by the likes of Ras Kwame and Mista Jam.


Majestic is definitely set to reignite the Garage flame and rekindle the love we all had for the genre, so do not be surprised if you find yourself Rolex sweeping in the V.I.P

NEW FLAVA / NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: AKS

UK STAND UP!!!

Now you know it's only right that we support our homegrown talent, and one of the newest acts to fly the Union Jack is 23 year old Deptford resident AKS.

AKS, (part of The Midas Touch Collective along with fellow rapper Phoenix and rapper/singer J. The Exodus), is said to be 'built on introspective reflections, memorable lyrics and an earnest and commanding tone'.

With his new mixtape, 'A Miracle In The Making', AKS exhibits his skills over beats covering a number of genres from Pop to Neo Soul which showcases his diversity and ability to appeal to an audience across the board.

Describing the process of making the mixtape AKS says,

“In a way I feel as though I blindfolded myself, felt around the scene and my own catalogue a little and picked out a couple oddly shaped objects thinking I could build something useful out of 'em. And I have.”

"'A miracle in the making' is me dipping my toe in the water knowing full well that be it cold or lukewarm I’m still gonna take a run up and dive in the pool.”

With production from Nutty P, Red Skull, Jesse P. and Chemo, AKS glides nicely through each track with a seasoned swagger and definitely holds his own on some of the hottest tracks around right now!

AKS’ forthcoming single “Swagger” drops in Summer 2009 followed by a winter release of his album Do Miracles Happen?.

Wassup people in Blog land! Thank you for welcoming me in to your home, BlackBerry, iPhone, Wap enabled mobile etc...

I'm gonna jump right in to it and bring you a lil' welcoming present...

Rapper/Singer/Actor Aubrey 'Drake' Graham is often billed as 'The new Fresh Prince'. Drake's music is a mixture of witty wordplay and heavily laced metaphorical rhymes about females, swagger, money, fashion & partying!

After releasing three mixtapes, (Room For Improvement, Comeback Season & 2009's So Far Gone), Drake also featured on various bootleg mixtape remixes and worked with Trey Songz and more regularly a well known Dwayne 'Lil Wayne' Carter. As Drake became hot property, Major labels lined up to acquire his services, but he opted to run with the music giant that is Interscope Records. (He is also an affiliate of Weezy's Young Money Entertainment to which it was rumoured he had actually signed to???).

With his ability to hold it down with some of the Hip-Hop world's elite with impeccable style ('Man Of The Year') and also smooth it out for the ladies ('Brand New') Drake definitely has a bright future ahead if him!

The fact that the hottest Martian on earth is backing him as well definitely won't hurt either!

New Kid On The Block: XO Man

Hailing from South-West London, this 6ft 10 gentle giant is not your average rapper. Get a glass of Hip-Hop, add a splash of Grime, a sprinkle of Indie, and a teaspoon of reggae and you’ll get a refreshing beverage of sounds by XO Man. You may have recently seen him on MTV's Hugo Urban Rules where he was crowned the winner by the Sugababes.

XO Man is not exactly a 'new kid on the block' as he's been performing on the live circuit for just over two years, but as he's been brought to the mainstream via our TV screens, I shall call him 'a new kid on the block'.
