Mary J Blige reiterated what an amazing singer she was on Tuesday night at the London leg of her 'Music Saved My Life' tour at the O2 Arena. The singer captivated her audience with her powerful vocals and heart rendering passion from beginning to the end.
Wth a full live band and three backing vocalists, Mary kicked off the show with her version of Game's 'Hate It Or Love It' and 'The One' backed up with two male dancers to get the crowd in a feel-good mood. She ran through three more track including 'Be Happy' before the venue managed to get all the speakers in the venue working properly so Mary could be heard loud and clear.
Sporting a black all-in-one, the nine-times Grammy award winner took us through her back catalogue from her 'What's The 411?' days right through to her current album 'Stronger With Each Tear', performing classics such as 'Not Gon' Cry', 'Just Mary' and 'Everything'.
Her stripped down performance of 'Take Me As I Am' and 'No Drama' were her two most heartfelt performances of the night, which had the crowd pumped with emotion. She also had the crowd sing along to the classic 'I'm Goin' Down'.
The 'Queen of Hip Hop Soul' closed the show with the upbeat track 'Just Fine' and 'Be Without You' for the encore. Mary looked like she could've sang for another hour - she was that pumped with energy!
Although the production of the show was very simple, Mary definitely didn't disappoint!
I was at the concert too. Mary J was out of this world! She gave it everything and showed what a fantastic performer she is. Worth every penny!
