Kano Is Back To 'Rock N Roller'

That's right! After a very brief hiatus, your favourite MC, Kano, is back!

Today is the day Europe gets its radio premiere of Kano's new single, 'Rock N Roller' from his up-coming album, which is set to drop later on this winter.

Is There A Con-Man In The Konvict Muzik Camp?

So I received an email from a member of Church Boi's management, directing me to listen to the Akon diss track below.

Part of the email reads:

"Church Boi has been with Akon since the beginning, paying for kon's meals when kon couldnt afford them, Akon and Church boi (real name Cory Boyd) were family, directing his music,producing and playing guitar for him around the world since before Akon was even known. Church Boi has been done wrong big time, akon stole money, beats and more from him,we would appreciate your support in letting your audience know about this situation and this record which explains everything"



Church Boi is/was an artist, producer and guitarist on Konvict Muzik and a friend of Akon's, who has produced and written tracks for the likes of Busta Rhymes, Paul Wall, T-Pain and more. He's apparently got tired of Akon's con-man ways, (so it says in the track).

It was only about 2-3 months ago that Konvict Muzik's PR asked me to interview Church Boi, real name Cory Boyd....so I'm confused.com.

A Bad Day for SouljaBoy

It hasn't been a good day for Soulja Boy as he was on the receiving end of some harsh words by a BET blogger and some more harsh words in an alleged diss track by Eminem.


Whilst on tour with Young Money, SouljaBoy was up to his usual ish on the net, this time showcasing his new remote control Lamborghini car chain.

When word got round that SouljaBoy had an iced out remote control car around his neck he sparked a response from a certain BET blogger.

"If someone doesn’t sit his ass down, I WILL! Before I stage dive into this memoir of thoughts on Soulja Boy’s absurd jewelery acquisitions, know that I’m in no way hating on this young man. This more like one of those punches your older brother (or older sister in my case) gave you when you show signs of moronic activity in public.

Recently, Mr. Boy decided it’d be best if he not only had a black Lambo in his garage, but if he also had one swinging from his neck. Covered in black diamonds. Did I mention it was a remote control car? Is this registering in your skull yet or have you tuned this rant out since it’s dealing with Soulja Boy?

Shortly after SouljaBoy tweeted "WTF is today diss Soulja Boy day? Eminem dissing me? really?"

A track was leaked a couple hours ago that is allegedly Eminem taking shots at SouljaBoy.



Now it wouldn't make sense for Em' to diss SouljaBoy like that considering Eminem's status in hip-hop, but listen again and tell us if you really think it's him.

If it is him, your boy SouljaBoy has his work cut out for him, going against Ice-T is one thing but Eminem? Jheeez.

Is Drake Over And Out Before His Career Has Truly Begun?

After discussing with a few of my peers about our thoughts and views on Drake, it seems we all agree....Drake's career is crashing before it's actually begun.....well we hope not!

There has been a few incidents/events that have happened over the past month or so that don't seem to have gone down too well with Drake fans.

Incident #1

'Best I Ever Had' Video
Directed by Kanye West

One of the most anticipated videos of the year, from the the Canadian rapper on the tips of everybody's tongue, was very disappointing. The video was a hot mess, which I personally didn't get.
Kanye's vision didn't reach out to Drake's fans, most of whom shunned the video. With a massive female fan base, this video did Drake no favours, but some men seemed to like it, no surprise there!



Last week an editor's cut version of the video was released.....



Is it any better than the original?


Incident #2

Drake's performance at the 2009 BET Awards

We all expected Drake to give a great performance at the BET Awards, (I actually stayed up till 5am watching), and once again we were disappointed, and some even appalled.
Poor Drake tore his Achilles heel a few days before the BET Awards, so he either had to pull out or go on with the show - he decided to go on with the show, where he sat on a stool throughout his performance of 'Best I Ever Had', which had people bored and not impressed. Then in his performance with Weezy for 'Every Girl', Lil' Wayne's daughter and her friends who are around the ages of 13, come out on stage prancing around like, dare I say it, young groupies, which, for a show that was dedicated to the passing of Michael Jackson, was inappropriate.


There's no longer any video footage that is available due to copyright clams by Viacom. (Sorry!) But I'm sure you all have seen the footage!

I give Drake props for going ahead with the show whilst injured, but his first televised performance was dire and was slated. He really should have weighed up his options better!

Incident #3

Drake falls and injures his leg....again!

During a performance whilst Drake is 'dancing', he falls and hurts his knee and he'll now need surgery. If he injures it again, doctors have warned him that he may not be able to walk on it again.



This is another blow to Drake which also creates yet another set back for him.

It seems ever since he signed to Cash Money/Universal Records, he's going down hill and the buzz about him is dying down. With other artists, such as Fabolous, going in for the kill, will Drake be soon forgotten about?

'Silly Boy' is actually by a singer named Eva Simons, who looks set to take the charts by storm with this track.

I like this video....very different for Peter. He's come a long way from his past cheesy days as a singer.

R.I.P Baatin

Social Writers have just learnt that Rapper Baatin from the legendary Hip Hop collective Slum Village, passed away yesterday at the age of 35. Titus 'Baatin' Glover , T3 and J Dilla, ( who died in 2006 of lupus), were founding members of the Detroit trio and went on to release two legendary underground albums together including 1997 'Fan-Tas-Tic Vol 1 and 2000 'Fan-Tas-Tic Vol 2 that not only gained them a large underground following but also impressed the equally acclaimed rap group A Tribe Called Quest. However it was their 2002 album 'Trinity' ( with lyricist Elzhi replacing J Dilla) that officially put Detroit Hip Hop on the map and gained them mainstream acknowledgement.

Though he left the group for a short while to work on his solo project, the group recently reunited and was due to release their long awaited fourth album 'Villa Manifesto' this Autumn.


Leaving behind a 1 year old daughter and a 9 year old son, the passing of Baatin is a great loss to Hip hop and to all those that value and appreciate great artistry.

This summer has seen yet another death of a music legend.
