R.I.P thelondonpaper

Another publication bites the dust...this time it's my favourite free evening paper, thelondonpaper

News International, who own thelondonpaper, revealed today that thelondpaper, which has a daily distribution of 500,000, recorded a pre-tax loss of £12.9m in the year to Jun 2008.

Rupert Murdoch has said:
"The team at thelondonpaper has made great strides in a short space of time with innovative design and a fresh approach but the performance of the business in a difficult free evening newspaper sector has fallen short of expectations. We have taken a tough decision that reflects our priorities as a business."

This closing of the thelondonpaper just goes to show that no publication is safe.
